Accolades for law centres at The Herald Law Awards of Scotland 2022

Govan Law Centre is honoured and proud to see our Principal Solicitor and Solicitor Advocate, Mike Dailly, receive the Solicitor of the Year award, sponsored by the Law Society of Scotland, at The Herald Law Awards of Scotland 2022.

Such recognition is powerful testimony to the brilliant team work of all staff at Govan Law Centre, without which winning awards would not be possible. This is fourth Solicitor of the Year recognition for Mike, after winning the award in 2007, 2011, and 2019. Last year he received the Outstanding Contribution Award.

The Herald Law Awards of Scotland took place at a ceremony on Friday 11 November 2022 in Glasgow’s Hilton Doubletree hotel. Other law centre winners included Paul Brown, former Principal Solicitor at the Legal Services Agency, who received the Lifetime Achievement award for his 42 years of legal excellence working in community law centres.

Mike has been effective in developing a wide range of strategic and innovative litigation challenges to make a real difference for vulnerable people in Scotland. He has done so by appearing before the Outer and Inner Houses of the Court of Session and appellate tribunals. He also engages in wider law reform work. He appeared before the UK Supreme Court in October 2022 in McCue v. Glasgow City Council to try and advance the rights of disabled persons in Scotland.
