Independent. Community controlled. Using the law to end poverty and discrimination.
Govan Law Centre’s Parliamentary & Social Policy Unit drafts legislation for the United Kingdom and Scottish parliaments. We provide legal advice on a wide range of social policy issues.
After government, we have written more parliamentary bills than anyone else in Scotland. We use both UK and Scottish parliaments to improve the fight poverty and disadvantage
We draft private member bills, 10 minute rule bills, amendments to legislation, where it will alleviate poverty, tackle disadvantage or discrimination, or promote democracy and community participation in the political process.
Our service is provided on a not for profit, cost only, basis for charities, voluntary organisations and trade unions subject to resources. We may also be able to assist individual MPs and MSPs in bill projects which fall within the strategic policy objectives of the Govan Law Centre.
