Govan Law Centre’s (GLC) Senior Solicitor, Laura Simpson and Solicitor, Alec Donnelly were delighted to attend the 25th anniversary celebration for Ayrshire’s Community Housing Advocacy Project (CHAP) in the Scottish Parliament on Wednesday, 27 November 2025.
Reaching a quarter of a century is no small achievement and CHAP has grown from a small local advice project in 2000, into a well-established and trusted charity providing free, independent and confidential advice on housing, debt, welfare rights across Ayrshire.
Over the years, CHAP have developed strong partnerships, expanded their services, and adapted to meet the changing needs of their communities. From helping individuals facing homelessness to delivering financial education in schools and supporting homeowners at risk of repossession through the AHAP Service in partnership with GLC, CHAP’s commitment has always been to help people find stability, security, and confidence in difficult times.

CHAP is an Ayrshire charity which helps people from all walks of life with a range of housing, welfare and debt issues. It also provides education and early intervention services.
