Alistair Sharp, homelessness services champion, leaves after 16 years

Alistair Sharp is leaving Govan Law Centre, after 16 years of fantastic service. Staff have been expressing how much they will miss him and wishing him all the best for the future.

Ally joined GLC when we were just four staff in shop-front premises in Govan’s Burleigh Street. He has been a major force in helping us build our core services and prevention of homelessness casework, as well as establishing numerous projects over the years and forging new relationships with funders and partners.

His innovative work has pushed the boundaries of how law centres provide legal services to our most vulnerable clients.

Mike Dailly, GLC solicitor advocate said:

“There can be no doubt that many thousands of people in Glasgow have benefited from Ally’s efforts over the years.

To quote the late, great, William McIlvanney from Docherty: “We’re wan anither. Tae survive, we’ll respect wan anither. When the time comes, we’ll a’ move forward thegither, or nut at all”. That’s been Ally’s spirit and drive.

He will be sorely missed and I would like to express my very best and fondest wishes to Ally and his family for the future.”
