Govan Law Centre (GLC) is delighted to have acted pro bono for local charity, Park Villa Football Development SCIO (Park Villa), in the acquisition of a 25-year lease from Glasgow City Council of the former Glasgow Club Drumoyne, 337 Langlands Road, Glasgow, G51 4AW.
The Park Villa Community Sports Hub is run and managed by Park Villa for the local community in Glasgow Govan as well as providing essential sports facilities for Govan High School and Pirie Park Primary School.
GLC understands that this is the first community transfer and leasing of major sporting facilities and football pitches from Glasgow City Council to a local charity in Glasgow.
Park Villa uses football as a means of providing productive activity for young people which introduces them to concepts such as fitness, teamwork, self-esteem, discipline, good behaviour and the importance of maintaining a healthy diet and lifestyle promoting good mental health.

Park Villa has identified the need for these activities to start from an early age and developed a tiny-Kickers group involving youngsters as young as 18-months. The charity also uses football as a means of providing adults both male and female with the opportunity to improve their health and learning, through football coaching and our Park Villa Fit initiative.
The coaching programme aims to provide young people and adults with an opportunity to maximise their full potential in both the sport of football and their contribution to the community.
Opportunities to maximise their learning potential, the encouragement to take up education and life-long learning opportunities in their chosen field, the opportunity to obtain recognised SFA coaching qualifications, hence creating employment opportunities as a qualified coach and access to further college education in the field of sport and recreation.
Park Villa aims to provide a safe and empowering environment in which to embrace a positive alternative to anti-social behaviour.
