Mum takes legal action to ensure daughter’s additional support needs are met at school

An Aberdeenshire mother is taking legal action against her local authority claiming that her child’s additional support needs are being failed by her council. She is represented by Andrew Fyffe, Senior Solicitor, with Govan Law Centre’s Education Law Unit.

Due to a lack of specialist schools and provisions in the North East of Scotland she fears she may be forced to travel more than 100 miles to access a specialist school. The move comes as the number of cases against local councils over additional support needs has risen by around 40%.

Scottish Television have reported on the case below.
