We are delighted to be carrying out research into the legal needs of carers in Glasgow. Independent social researcher, Susan Soloman, will carry out interviews and focus groups with carers and carers organisations across south and north east Glasgow.
We are convinced that there are huge unmet legal needs amongst carers – across Scotland. We are seeing more and more people who are caring for vulnerable relatives and need legal advice relating to welfare benefits, money and housing law. They also need advice and assistance with guardianships and powers of attorneys.
The ageing population and the continued under funding of social care tells us that this problem will only get worse. We hope the research will help us develop a specialist legal service which can support carers.
